Raman Systems, Inc. started in 1997 out of the Boston University's Photonics Research Center. Initial applications included design and development of chemical sensors for detecting low concentration contaminants in water affording portability and field deployment. Following rapid expansion and sales growth, the company moved in the Spring of 2005 to the high-tech corridor of Austin, TX , where it is now based.
