Ether NDE Ltd. is a company founded on 1st January 2010 by Mike Reilly and John Hansen. Mike was previously Group Managing Director of Sonatest PLC from 1989 to 2009, during which time the Group grew from a $2m. to $25m. business. John was until recently Senior Staff Engineer for Eddy Current NDT at GE Inspection Technologies, St Albans, UK (previously Hocking NDT), is Chairman of the BINDT Trade Group and a member of both the Electromagnetic and DICONDE ASTM Committees. The founders of Ether NDE have combined industry experience of 58 years.

From the outset, Ether NDE will focus on Eddy Current Probe Design, Probe Repair Services, ET / NDT Accessories and Consultancy, as well as representing selected international manufacturers of Electromagnetic Test Equipment and Accessories. By August 2010 a standard range of Eddy Current catalogue probes will be added to the portfolio. Plans for 2011 include introduction of a class-leading portable Eddy Current Instrument with a range of innovative features, which will be developed with a North American technology partner.

Ether NDE Ltd’s Factory and Office Premises are located in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, 10 km north of St Albans near London and the M25/M1 intersection. We welcome expressions of interest in Distribution of our Products and future Employment.
Mike Reilly – Chief Executive

Qualified as Chartered Certified Accountant in 1980. Worked for a number of multi-national Corporations, including Schlumberger Electronics, the former owners of Sonatest. Joined Sonatest in 1984 and initiated the idea of the Management Buy-out of Sonatest in 1986. Became Sonatest Managing Director in 1989. Established Sonatest, Inc. in 1991 and then acquired Balteau NDT, Dakota Ultrasonics, NDT Solutions Ltd. and HARFANG Microtechniques over a five-year period from June 2000. Awarded the MBE for outstanding services to UK Business in 2004.

Has served as a Director of around 15 different Corporations during the last ten years, both within the NDE business and outside.

John Hansen – Managing Director

Graduated from Southampton University in 1977 with a B.Sc. Honours in Electronic Engineering and obtained a MBA from the Open University in 1997.

John has had a career in the NDT business of 33 years. Starting with Unit Inspection in the technical department at Swansea as a graduate in 1976. In 1984 he joined Hocking NDT Ltd, St Albans as Senior Engineer in the Systems Department. In his last role at GE Inspection Technologies St Albans John was responsible for the development and success of the Phasec, WheelScan 5 and Pulsec. Acknowledged as a leading source of technical knowledge in the eddy current industry. John currently serves as BINDT Trade Group Chairman and Engineering Council Liaison Officer. For ASTM he serves on both the DICONDE and Electromagnetic Testing Committees. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, Fellow of the British Institute of NDT and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
